Since its inception, WLC has
been actively organising programmes. The member organizations work
mainly on children's
education, income generation and health care program.
Meanwhile, the WLC offices focus on women's capacity
building, promotion of
women's participation in political activities and strengthening
unity among Chin women.
WLC
has also been involved in political organization such as Chin
National Council and accepted as the women body to represent
Chin Women from Chin
State at
the Ethnic Nationalities Council (Union of Burma).
WLC organise quarterly Management
Body meetings for better functioning and coordination amongst
the members. WLC has conducted more than 30 trainings to
empower Chin women. Members of WLC have also attended trainings
on various issues.
Educational projects
WLC has started an Education
Project since 2008 inside Chin State
with donations from partner organizations.
The goal of this project is to
build a better future for Burma through
education.
This education project has
helped more than 1200 Chin children in five Townships inside Chin State.
The supplies are very basic
such as exercises books, pencils and instrumental boxes. WLC
will continue supplying basic
stationary needs for children. It also plans to help
some villages to hire local teachers as the military government
does not provide qualified and committed teachers to remote and
ethnic areas including Chin State.
